Rosetta Cammeniti

Rosetta Cammeniti (Natalie Saleeba)

Control freak Rosetta Cammeniti surprised everyone when she fell for professional gambler Frazer Yeats. Will he finally unleash the Latin passion within?

Rosetta, or Rosie to her friends, appears to be just your average uptight lawyer. However, scratch the surface of the feisty Italian and you’ll find that she can be every bit as passionate as her wayward younger sister Carmella.

The Cammeniti sense of family means that Rosie will always fight to the death to protect those she loves. And she does love Carmella, even though she drives her mad sometimes. When Carmella was running wild in her pre-convent years, Rosetta had all the burdens of being the eldest child thrust upon her. Until recently, pleasing her parents had been Rosetta’s sole aim in life but the pressure to obey eventually pushed Rosie to boiling point.

When Cammeniti matriarch Lucia decided that it was high time beautiful Rosetta had a man in her life, she tried to marry her off to a family friend’s son, the eligible Johnny Brown. Eager to please, Rosie was compliant all the way to the wedding dress fitting but when she started to ask her mother about the mysterious groom-to-be, she smelled a rat.  Somehow there were far more questions than answers about this boy and his shady connection to the Cammeniti family. Rosetta got seriously cold feet and, for the first time in her life, defied the family rule.

Leaving home to move to Erinsborough was eye-opening on several levels. Not only did she manage to reconnect with her sister, she also discovered the joys of shared housing. Uptight Rosie didn’t far too well with her messy housemates but it wasn’t long before she started seeing the upsides: a loyal best friend in perky Pepper and some serious eye candy in the fine forms of Frazer Yeats and Will Griggs.

Although Rosie initially had a painful crush on Will, she put her feelings aside when Will started seeing Carmella. By that stage, freaky Frazer was heavily putting the moves on her in his quest to marry into her wealthy family. Still unaware that he was actually George Brown, estranged brother of former fiancé Johnny, Rosie began to find herself falling for Frazer. Before long they both realised that their feelings were genuine and, despite a few false starts, their relationship began to blossom.

Things went awry when Frazer’s little brother Ringo arrived and Frazer was forced to confess his family history. Concerned that she couldn’t trust him, Rosie broke things off. However, just as the lovebirds were beginning to realise they might have made a mistake, Frazer suffered a horrific accident at the racetrack and was told he faced life in a wheelchair. Offering unwavering support, Rosie stayed by his side throughout his rehabilitation and the tragic event turned out to be the very thing that brought them back together.

They got engaged but a spanner was thrown in the works when Frazer’s doctor informed him that his inability to walk was no longer physical but psychological. Scared that Frazer thought she only wanted to be with him if he was an invalid who needed her help, they nearly called the wedding off. Thankfully the big day eventually went ahead and Frazer even managed to walk down the aisle to his beautiful bride.

When Carmella found out that she was pregnant, Rosie was a constant source of support. However, when little Chloe was born prematurely, Rosie struggled to cope with the raw emotion involved. She warned Frazer that she didn’t feel she would ever be mentally tough enough to have children of her own. Despite her determination to remain childless, just a few short months later Rosie found herself pregnant.

Still unsure of how she’ll cope as a mother, and reluctant to give up the law career she loves so much, Rosie isn’t sure how she’s going to juggle work and a family. But at least she knows that Frazer will be by her side every step of the way.
