Harry (16) is a middle child, and the only Ramsay boy. He and his sisters Kate (17) and Sophie (10) are very tight but he is particularly close to Kate because she’s been a mother figure for as long as he can remember.

Their mother Jill was a secretary/receptionist who used to work nightshifts, and long before she and their father divorced, the family were struggling with money troubles. Kate was always responsible, and she let Harry know it. Harry has never been able to get much past his big sister but they’ve always kept each other’s secrets, and while their fights are legendary, honest and sometimes brutal, they love each other fiercely.

Harry keeps his own counsel, strangers think he is aloof, even withdrawn but not with Kate. They looked out for each other while they’re parents bickered and Mum worked two jobs to compensate for Dad’s gambling. Kate found security in taking charge, and Harry found it in maintaining his distance. He relied on her to do all the social negotiating and repaid her by being her ear late at night when they couldn’t sleep.

He is a shrewd judge of character and his whip-like observations keep his sister laughing and sane as she tries to keep the family afloat. A reflective soul, Harry meditates with music, and is an accomplished musician.

His baby sister Sophie was born into an already tight unit. Sophie’s birth was the death-knell for their parents strained relationship and Harry and Kate quickly took to shielding the bub and proxy parenting her.

Harry likes to think he doesn’t need anyone – with Kate and Sophie being the obvious exception. His somewhat brittle mask keeps people at bay and he will test people, often harshly, to see whether they can be let in. He is judgemental but he’s protecting a sensitive soul. He’s hard to shock and admires children for their honesty and lack of guile, like his kid sister Sophie. He is taken by the brave way they chance themselves and their feelings in this world, something he learnt not to do at a very early age.

After a long and arduous battle with Adult Services and a troubling time with himself, along with a short stint in a foster home, Harry has finally settled in to life in Ramsay Street, slowly learning to trust his new neighbours.  With the help of Lou as the Ramsay kids new guardian, Harry is back living with his kid sister and Kate, and walks around with a spring in his step and a cheeky smile on his face - most of the time!
