Another exciting week at Neighbours, flitting from the story and script department at the Neighbours’ offices in Richmond and the television studio at Nunawading certainly fills my day.  The stories originate in the Story Department about 3 months before the script is ready to film, so I have to keep about 18 to 25 stories in my head at once – whew!

This week the Story Department have been discussing the first episodes back to air in 2010, and they’re soooo fantastic. I wish I could tell you what’s going to happen but then it wouldn’t be a surprise would it?

Tonight we are all getting together to watch a very special block (that’s five episodes) which was shot several months ago. We do this a couple of times a year. You see, because we all work such long hours we don’t always see the finished episodes go to air on TV. By finished, I mean the added music and any special effects. So we organise for the cast and crew (actors, camera men, directors, writers, composer, set builders and many, many more) to meet and watch what everyone has worked so hard for. It’s always a great night.

The block you’ll all be seeing this week on TV is pretty dramatic. I remember when the surrogacy story was first pitched there were some pretty heated conversations around the table - and raised eye brows too! Not everyone agrees that surrogacy is a good idea, but that’s what we like right; something to gossip about?

This week sees more bad news for Libby and Dan, there might be a new romance happening in a certain garage and we see Bridget’s struggle with being a year 12 student and a mum all at once - I thought my life was busy!

It’s so cute having the twins (who play baby India) in the studio. The parents are always on hand and there are lots of rules about what we can and can’t do with the tiny ones. The assistant director lets everyone know when they are ‘on set’ and everyone has to be as quiet as they can. A crying baby is not what you want if you’re trying to film a scene. But they are both very calm bubs. Watch how ‘Declan’ and ‘Bridget’ become more confident in holding the baby as the weeks go by. Babies can be very squirmy!  And can you pick when a doll is used instead of the real babies?
Oh, and Bridget leads a demo when she thinks her friends are being very badly treated. Go Didge!

The Ramsay family struggle to settle into the street, especially Harry. On the other hand the actors playing Kate, Harry and Sophie are settling in very well and have become part of the Neighbours team; although they got lost a few times trying to find their way around the studio and offices.

I really love being the Executive Producer of such a great show as Neighbours. I look forward to posting you news and gossip on a regular basis. But until next time enjoy the show!!
