Callum is a handful, often creating pockets of chaos just to be noticed. And noticed he is.  Callum is energetic and lively, but under the larrikin exterior is a damaged boy looking for someone to love him. Callum comes from a strained family background: an addict mother who disappeared when he was six, an absent father he's never met, and loving, but elderly grandparents who found it increasingly difficult to cope with his hyperactivity. Despite these setbacks, Callum has a lot to offer. He's smart, sharp, funny, cunning and clever. He's drawn to people with similar qualities and is yearning for stability and affection. Will he find it on Ramsay Street?

After the death of his grandfather, Callum's gran Hilda had to take on odd jobs and met Steph Scully through a clearning job at Charlie's Bar.  Unable to look after Callum very well, Steph decided to introduce Callum to Toadie who she thought was in need of some young company following his own adoption plans falling through.  Callum was in desperate need of a male role model and over time they found common interests such as their love of wrestling that bonded them together as friends.  However, one day when Toadie was dropping Callum home, they were alarmed to find out that Hilda had suffered a stroke and was in hospital.  With no one to care for him, Toadie was happy to have Callum stay with him, until work took up all this time and he was forced to leave Callum in Susan's care.

However, Susan was suffering MS and Callum was a handful, and the relationship began to cause her stress, leading to an attack of MS when they were out walking in the park.  She fell asleep on a chair and awoke later to find Callum had vanished, and so had her phone.  With no one to help her she became distressed, however lucky for her Rachel and Zeke soon discovered her and took her to hospital.  Later, Callum was forced to apologise but soon after Toadie discovered Callum's mobile was full of phones, cameras and MP3 players.  Callum then admitted that he'd stolen those things to sell them, so he could make some money for when his Gran dies and he is left on his own.  Toadie then assured him that he wouldn't need a back-up plan, as he'd be there to look after him if anything were to happen tohis Gran.

Callum has been through some tough times, having been suspected for starting the bushfire when Jay planted a lighter in his pocket, to distract the police from the real culprit, himself.  Toadie believed in Callum, telling Steph and Jay that Callum would never deliberately light a fire and put people's lives at risk, until Jay lit a fire in Toadie's backyard and the finger of blame was pointed towards Callum again!  However, Toadie soon became suspicious of Jay's odd behaviour once an article was published by Paul to flush the real culprit out, and he and Nicola did some research, finding out that Jay had been involved in fires before, as a hero!  And was always pictured with a young, single mum afterwards.  Aware that Steph was in danger, they tried to warn her but she refused to listen, instead going away with Jay for a weekend in the country.  Fortunately, Toadie managed to find the remote cabin in time to save Steph.  But next it was Callum who saved the day, when Jay turned up at their home one night which Callum alerted Toadie to.    Though now settled in Ramsay Street, Callum soon had to say goodbye to his good friend Mickey, who he'd become good friends with, when Mickey's parents Kirsten and Ned moved to Perth.  However, when Nicola West came to stay, Callum foud a new friend in her Toadie's gorgeous friend and they became quite close, and Callum saw her as a mother-figure.  When Nicola was involved in a hit and run accident and left in a coma, Callum was worried for his friend and looked after her dog, Bronte.  When Nicola woke up from the coma, the doctors said she was suffering from amnesia and didn't remember anyone, including him.   However, she was faking the amnesia in order to move on from some terrible things she had done involving the Parker family.  When she was released from the hospital Callums started to notice her odd behaviour when she dumped something in the Parker's bin and denied it.  He told Toadie, explaining that his mum use to lie about things like that when she was on drugs.  And later it was revealed that Nicola had tried to kill Steve Parker by poisoning him, and had been faking her amnesia.  Callum was devastated, another person he was close to in his life had failed him.  His teacher at school noticed Callum was acting out in anger and paid Toadie a visit, suggesting that human services should get involed as she was concerned for the boy's welfare.  And as his behaviour got worse, Toadie decided he wasn't cut out to deal with Callum's behaviour and decided to hand him over so he could be placed in a better home.

However, Toadie realised his mistake not long after Callum left and tried to get him back from the foster home he was allocated to, but when he went to see him Callum seemed to be enjoying his new home and he decided to leave him there.  Unaware of how miserable Callum really was!  Then, Toadie started receiving prank calls and Rebecca who answered one of them, realised it was Callum trying to reach out to him, and they went and got Callum back.  Toadie and Callum then realised that Ramsay Street was where he belonged and he settled in to life in Erinsborough, and soon started calling Toadie Dad and Toadie gave Callum the nickname of 'Squid'.

Now, Callum has started his first year of high school with his new friend Sophie Ramsay.  What adventures will 'Squid' find playing in the big league?
