Miriam Locke-Wheaton, Gabriella Darlington, Jennifer Hall, Jo Gleave and Olivia Kennett are the five finalists in the running to play Poppy Rogers, a young British backpacker who is a friend of the Kennedy family. The next step is for the British public to vote on the final two, who will be flown out to Australia to audition with the Neighbours’ cast. Executive Producer Susan Bower will decide who the winner is.
“I’m very excited about all the Poppies, each girl brings something different to the role,” said Bower who is currently in London to meet the finalists.
“Our UK fans have supported Neighbours for 25 years and are still crazy about us so this is a fabulous way to show our appreciation,” she said.
Alan Fletcher will fly to London on June 28 to announce the final two. A documentary film crew will follow the two finalists to Australia, and the winner will be filmed during her three week Ramsay Street adventure to be broadcast on Channel Five.
Poppy will make her debut in Australia in October and in December in the UK. If past competitions are anything to go by, the guest role may turn out to be something more permanent, as it did for Sam Clark.
