Kate finds herself having to defend Brennan when Toadie starts asking questions, and then everyone's asking questions, and she finds herself asking questions too. She needs answers. And more than anything, she needs Mark to know that she was on her way to be with him, that she did want to be with him. So she finds herself ringing Brennan's mother, the number she found on the passport, and then she goes to see Brennan's boss. However, all she gets is a brick wall. There are no answers and no way of finding where Mark is. She can't even get a message to him. He's gone.... and she has to face that he is gone forever.
Karl's got plans but he doesn't think Susan's interested. He can't help but feel that they are heading in different directions and tells her he's worried she's creating more family around them in order to block out the fact that being with just him is not enough...i.e.Summer. What will Susan do now she knows the depth of Karl's feelings?
Meanwhile, Lucas gets advice from Toadie regarding a call he received from his late father's solicitor, and Toadie offers his support. When Lucas finds out that his dad had been sick for six months before he died, he freaks out. He didn't take any of his calls before he died and finds the guilt unbearable. How can he reconcile his feelings for his father? With a little bit of encouragement from Toadie, Lucas force himself to dig a bit deeper and finds out that his father has left something for him in his will. What could it be and will Lucas accept his father's last wish?
