Sonya Mitchell

It was a long time before Toadie felt that he could trust her again, but true love triumphed and he and Callum welcomed Sonya home. After months of happiness together, Sonya decided to take life by the horns and start her own business. Sonya's Nursery achieved huge success selling plants and trees to locals--with a smile. The timing was perfect; Toadie agreed that their family should grow. But as time went on and Sonya wasn't pregnant, they discovered some terrible news: Toadie was almost infertile. It looked like Sonya might never have true happiness.
Then a mystery illness struck her down and her dreams came true--she was pregnant! At the beginning of 2013, Nell was born amidst a terrifying ordeal for Sonya, who lost consciousness several times during the delivery and ended up in surgery.
Now recovered, Sonya has brought her daughter home and is loving life as a new-again mother.
Eve Morey plays Sonya Rebbechi
It was the prompting of Eve Morey’s Year 9 drama teacher to attend an audition that resulted in her first television role and the beginning of her acting career.
“My teacher thought it would be a great experience just to audition so I had no expectations so when I got the role, it was a turning point for me,” said Eve.
Eve spent two years filming the children’s series Pigs Breakfast at Channel Nine in Melbourne and was later accepted into NIDA in 2000 when she completed high school.
The Melbourne born actor went onto to perform in a number of theatre productions for Sydney Theatre Company and the Melbourne Theatre Company, as well as television roles in Home & Away and All Saints.
Eve joined the cast of Neighbours in June 2008 as Sonya Mitchell, a guide dog puppy trainer who quickly finds romance with Ramsay Street favourite Toadfish played by Ryan Moloney.
As a creative outlet, Eve enjoys framing pictures and objects which are highly sought after by family and friends. She is also a keen traveler and would love pursue theatre in the future.
