Unable to soothe Sophie’s anger at Harry, Kate can’t hide her disappointment that their family is falling apart on the eve of her Ministry of Dance try-out. Guilt-ridden Harry tries to get through to Sophie but only succeeds in making it worse, with Sophie blaming all their DHS problems on him.

As Kate struggles to juggle family responsibilities, she heads to the Ministry of Dance knowing if she’s successful, it may help their case to keep their family together. However once there, she becomes aware of how much her mother wanted this for her and Kate’s dancing suffers. Alone in the dressing room, Kate’s about to throw in the towel when the ghost of her mother appears and re-assures her she can do this. She couldn’t be prouder of Kate or the job she’s done trying to raise her family. Will her mother’s words be enough to get her through?

When Steph reveals to Lyn they’re responsible for food poisoning the Deb, Lyn feels terrible and is desperate to make it up to everyone. Steph insists Lyn should come clean but Lyn reasons it will ruin her if she does and pressures Steph to keep her silence. However Lou realises what’s going on and blackmails Lyn to keep it quiet. Her conscience pricked, Steph pushes Lyn to be honest, assuring her she’ll support her no matter what happens. Re-assured, Lyn calls off her deal with Lou and contacts the Health Department. Will she be able to weather the storm?

With Donna’s 18th birthday falling a day before the English exam, Ringo and the gang must negotiate study time with her. On her birthday, Donna’s reminded of all she left behind when Saffron sends a present and a rift forms between her and Ringo after she blames him for pushing her to quit her fashion job. With Ringo stressing out about his exams, and Donna choosing not to study, it all comes to a head at her birthday dinner.

After successfully landing representation with the Ministry of Dance agency, Kate comes home to find Sophie and Harry still fighting. With the threat of being split up hanging over them, Harry tries to win Sophie’s trust. But she won’t have it.

Desperately needing a job, Elle takes on the task of writing a press release for a new housing development. What appears to be a relatively mundane job turns into an exciting piece of investigative journalism when she discovers a new building development isn’t all it seems to be. She’s surprised to find her old boss, Josh Burns, already chasing the story and they find themselves reluctantly thrown together. But things go horribly wrong when the ladder at the proposed building site collapses and Josh is badly injured. Battling claustrophobia, Elle manages to escape and call Lucas for help. With a distressed Josh begging for her to return, Elle battles her fears to be by his side.

With Elle forcing some last minute study for the next day’s English exam, Donna finally admits she’s feeling overwhelmed and regrets pushing Ringo away. Off Elle’s advice she tries to reconcile their relationship, but Ringo’s need to concentrate on his studies still comes first.

Lucas, Toadie and Paul arrive to find emergency services already at work to rescue Elle and Josh. Ambulance officer Christian reaches them, promising Elle he’ll take care of Josh from here. But Elle refuses to leave, and her worried loved-ones face an anxious wait. Finally devastated Elle is helped out of the emergency site, but reveals Josh didn’t survive. Lucas and Paul are relieved that Elle is physically fine, but it’s clear she’s been emotionally scarred…

The first ultrasound test for Dan and Libby’s baby approaches, but excitement soon turns to conflict when opinions differ on whether they should find out if it’s a boy or a girl. Susan and Dan clash when he reveals he has misgivings about this whole process.

Lucas surprises Elle with the news that he’s accepted the NY News job on her behalf and this time he’s coming with her. Elle’s thrilled but realises she’s leaving Donna at a difficult time. Likewise Lucas is given pause for thought when Dan points out he’ll have no support network in New York and is at risk of gambling again. Despite their doubts, Elle and Lucas agree to make it work and the celebrations begin. But then Elle gets a call from the NY News which changes everything.

Lyn has had enough of living with Lou and is irritated by his constant presence in Harold’s Store, even though it would solve many of her business problems if she re-hired him. Lou’s had enough of Lyn as well, and even though he’d like to work at the store again, he couldn’t handle working under Lyn’s authority. Knowing that they’re both too proud to admit they need each other, Toadie and Steph cook up a scheme to get Lou and Lyn working together again. And there’s an unexpected price for Toadie…
