Janet Andrewartha

Janet Andrewartha
Cast in 1999 as Lyn Scully, the matriarch of the Scully family, Janet quickly became one of the series’ most popular actors. In 2006 Janet left the series to travel and pursue other opportunities, returning briefly to Ramsay Street last year for three weeks.

To the delight of fans and the series’ writers, Janet resurrected Lyn in a blaze of glory in August this year and will continue in an on-going guest role.

“She causes absolute turmoil for her nemesis Paul Robinson which is very dramatic and also very funny,” said Janet.

“I’m having a ball and while the writers are providing these great storylines, I’m happy to stay on and see what happens.”

Born in California, Janet moved to Australia at a young age and studied drama at the National Theatre Drama School in Melbourne, graduating a year ahead of Neighbours co-star Jackie Woodburne.

Her first major TV role was in the iconic Australian series Prisoner in 1984 and she went on to appear in A Country Practice, Blue Heelers and many other Australian productions. Passionate about theatre, Janet has worked in London and starred in many Melbourne Theatre Company productions including more recently the lead role All My Sons.
