Everyone Wants to be a Star

Hi Everyone, I'm so pleased you have enjoyed my first EP Corner entry and yes, this will be a regular segment on the website that I will continue to write". Also, it's great that a lot of people have enjoyed the segment on the website. It seems that many of you are interested in appearing in Neighbours so I’ll post a general answer here.

If you are serious about acting I suggest you take lessons and then get an agent. Neighbours’ needs lots of people of different ages in many episodes. Watch each scene, see the background characters which are called ‘Extras’, they are in the School, at Harolds Café, on the street or any one of the location scenes. The Extras need to be the sort of people you’d see in those places.

Then there are some actors who say a few words like “Package for Mrs. Kennedy”. And then there is what’s called ‘Guest Cast’ like the man who hid Zeke away after the rafting accident. These actors are chosen after auditions. Several actors show us how they would play the role and the Producer Neal Kingston and the director of that episode choose the one they think is best suited to the drama.

We have two people who help us with the casting. Check out the (very fast) credits at the end of the show for their names. It’s pretty tough being an actor because you go for many auditions and don’t always get the job. Choices are made for many reasons so for all those budding actors out there, if acting is your passion  - keep trying!

We’re all still upset about Bridget dying. We all loved the character and miss her. Check out the website for Eloise’s farewell to the fans. And now Declan is very, very angry and is determined to make whoever caused the accident pay!

The teens also have a school careers day just like many of you do. In the story department there is a big board that reminds the story tellers and writers what’s happening during the year like Careers Day and Jeans for Genes Day which is also featured this week. The stories are plotted many, many weeks before you see them on the TV and we try to keep the show as up to date as possible. We’ve even started on stories for next year. They are fantastic and I wish I could tell you but …I can’t!

I visit the studio every week and love chatting to the cast. They are all so great. But this week Morgan was so pleased to see me. There is a story line that involves his character wearing a football jumper but it’s not his team the 'Demons', it’s … Collingwood. He wasn’t happy at all.

I’m off overseas next week to meet with the bosses over there. They love Neighbours in England – almost as much as I do.
